Music Ministry

Making Melody To The Lord.

"...be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart." - Ephesians 5:18-19

Music is an important part of our worship and community life together at St. Barnabas.  It welcomes diversity, creates unity, and ministers to those who sing and play as well as to all who listen.

Joyful Voices

Our Adult Choir sings at the 10 am service on Sundays from September-June, as well as at other festival services throughout the year.   Our small but skilled ensemble sings anthems in a variety of styles and leads the singing of the psalms.  The choir also participates in occasional evening liturgies such as Celtic Vespers, Lessons and Carols, and Evensong, often in collaboration with another choir.  We try to remove barriers to participation; short term commitments and reasonable accommodations to the schedule are available! Choir rehearsals take place in the church on Thursday nights at 6:30 pm and at 9 am on Sundays.

Choir for a Day is offered periodically throughout the year.  A perfect opportunity to sing with the choir –just once!  Come to one rehearsal and sing an anthem the following Sunday.  No need to be in the procession, you can wear a choir robe or or you can sit up front.  Whether you are curious about the work of the choir, interested in joining, or just want to sing once in a while, this is a perfect opportunity to “demystify” the work of the choir, and experience choral singing with a warm and welcoming group!

We appreciate how instrumental music can enhance our liturgy. The sounds of a variety of instruments bring added depth to our music. Instrumentalists of all ages are invited to share their gifts, as appropriate.

To learn more about how to get involved, please contact Deborah Gemma, Director of Music at music@stbfalmouth.org.

A Congregation in Song Together

Members of the Congregation have an important role too!  The congregation is the most important choir of all: the assembled people of God!

You are invited to sing your parts joyfully, regardless of training, and to listen deeply to the music which is offered to the glory of God.
