Music at Saint Barnabas's
Music is a vital part of our worship and community life at Saint Barnabas’s. It brings us together, giving joy both to those who make music and those who listen. Our music ministry is comprised of voices and instruments, choirs and congregation joining in celebration, under the direction of Deborah Gemma. Our small but skilled ensemble of adults sings anthems in a variety of styles and leads the singing of the psalms. The choir typically rehearses on Thursday evenings, and sings at the 10 am service on Sunday mornings as well as other festival services throughout the year.
Our music ministry has been resilient throughout the pandemic, offering music to the glory of God no matter what form worship would take. Whether learning how to create a “virtual” choir for livestreamed liturgies, or adapting to the acoustical challenges of outdoor worship services, the choir has risen to the occasion! We look forward to the return of indoor, in-person worship, and the opportunity to expand musical offerings.
Anyone who loves to sing or is skilled in playing an instrument is encouraged to get involved in music ministry at St. Barnabas’s Church! You will find us to be a welcoming and supportive community of musicians. Please contact our Director of Music to learn more about our ministry and how your gifts and talents might be shared.
