Lectors
We are inspired by the words we hear from the lectern, readings from the Bible that give meaning to our lives. The lectors are the messengers of these words at Saint Barnabas’s. They speak to us on Sundays, holy days and other worship services during the year. They also lead the prayers, sometimes referred to as intercessions. Being a lector requires the ability and confidence to read before a group of people.

Flower Guild
The Flower Guild is responsible for the flowers in the sanctuary each week as well as flowers on the campus for special occasions. The flowers are given each week by parishioners in the memory of a loved one, are then rearranged and shared with a parishioner who needs encouragement. If you would like to give flowers or serve on the Flower Guild, contact the parish office.
Altar Flowers can be given in honor, to remember or to celebrate an individual or event and can be made by contacting the church office: office@stbfalmouth.org. The suggested donation is $40/vase or $80 for both.

National Altar Guild Prayer
Most gracious God who has called me your child to serve in the preparation of your altar, so that it may be a suitable place
for the offering of your body and blood;
Sanctify my life and consecrate my hands so that I may worthily handle
Those sacred gifts which are being offered to you.
As I handle holy things, grant that my whole life may be illuminated
and blessed by you, in whose honor I prepare them, and grant that the people who shall be blessed by their use,
May find their lives drawn closer to Him whose body and blood is our hope and our strength, Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Vergers
A lay minister who assists the clergy in the conduct of public worship, especially in the marshaling of processions. The history of the verger dates back to the middle ages when the verger was the “Protector of the Procession.” They would lead the way, making room for the procession to enter the church from the town square, and with his virge (mace) in hand would literally clear the way if necessary. The basic vestment of the verger is a black cassock. The ministry of vergers is supported and encouraged by the Vergers' Guild of the Episcopal Church.
